Flawed Bailout Bill a Big Disappointment for Consumers
Last week, Congress approved a deeply flawed bailout bill loaded with unnecessary corporate handouts. The Wall Street bailout’s handful of weak oversight measures and consumer protections acknowledge the American peoples’ demands, but without going far enough to have a substantial effect. Public Citizen will continue urging Congress to rein in the greed and corruption that got us into this mess.
PC to FDA: Ban Over-the-Counter Cough and Cold Meds for Kids
Public Citizen testifed to the FDA that over-the-counter (OTC) cough and cold medicines for children should be banned. Medical research proves that children younger than 12 taking these drugs fare no better than children who take no drugs at all. So why is the federal administration dragging its feet on this issue? The law is clear: unsafe, ineffective products should be removed from the market.
